Now, at 61, I'm finally stepping down as the Wizard. You might say you thought I already did that in December. After traveling for four months, I came back somewhat. However, in agreement with the new owners, I will be stepping down completely. The about us page at WoO has already been updated to reflect this.
Here at WoV, I have asked Miro (our technical Wizard) to demote me as a moderator. I may or may not become a secret moderator. I do plan to still contribute to the Wordle and Easy Math Puzzles threads and maybe others as they interest me. However, I feel I've said everything I have to say about gambling and ready to devote my time and curiosity to new interests. I leave the active moderation in the capable hands of Dieter and Gordon, for whom I thank greatly for their time and effort.
I'd like to thank everyone who contributed here with quality posts about the mathematics of gambling and helped to make each other better gamblers. In addition to the current moderators, I also thank past moderators who did a tour of duty and moved on.
I am sure you will go down in the history books as one of the greatest casino mathematicians of all time. Your life's work in this field is an inspiration for me as well as the rest of the arithmetically-inclined gamblers, casino mathematicians, and game inventors.
Thanks to the moderators too for maintaining the forum despite the influx of spam and negativity.
Good luck with your new passions and endeavors.
Will it be possible for me to submit analyses of new table games to this website in the future? I don't know about y'all but I completely refuse to play any table game in real life until I know the exact optimal strategy.

Bebaska! I appreciate your quality contributions to the forum.

I'm sure there will be. I will certainly suggest there be a clear way to submit a new game for addition to the site. It may be that we request a math report, unless the math is quite easy. My last new page created will probably be this one for Breakout Blackjack.

Use this thread to enlighten us as to what these ‘other interests’ are!
I’ve had a blast here and on DT for these 17 years.
I’ll add to the thanks you will be getting.

Great line.
Wizard, it has been a pleasure knowing you, working with you, and bantering with you at this site. The best to you in your future endeavors.

How is Joey related to Mike?

Not to nitpick, how did I join a week before that?
Despite you knocking me out of the top-5 posters (lol) add me to the people thanking you for this site. Bother personal advice I have gotten as well as it helping me get a job in the industry. Plus who knows how many other things along the way.
The time has flown. People have come and gone.....and GONE (RIP.)
Thank you for your service!!

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say there was a soft open on or about 30 October.

Makes sense, at the time I was waiting for the open as I had a job where I did like 2 hours of work a day. It started as this and a smaller gambling forum which this site quickly outclassed.
It was around 2001 when i first contacted you about craps and i was hooked ever since, Thus my user name.
(This was before your wizardofodds@cox.net email address?)
Who will be taking over your math analysis duties on future casino games?

Since you used to work for Social security, at what age are you going to collect?
Why?
Congratulations!

I take it upon myself to become the Magician of Mathematics. Wait maybe the Aeromancer of Arithmetic. Perhaps the Conjurer of Calculations.
While I might not yet be worthy of the title, I am increasingly doing analysis of table games and would love to attempt to help out with this informally. I would be honored to collaborate with any mathematicians on the forum who are interested in this task.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
I am the same age and changes like this can be refreshing. Also powerful, as the skills and discipline you develop in one area can often (with a mind kept open) be transferred to some other area where they are less common or nonexistent, allowing you to do things others can't, or haven't thought of. Like, what if gaming math was applied to SETI, or to evolutionary biology?
just wanted to add my thanks for hosting a high quality site that helped a lot of people improve and learn new things
take care

Now you can retire, play cards and complain about stuff.
Wizard has retired as a gambling analyst, although he has a YouTube channel where he answers mostly gambling-related questions through live viewers.
He also plays video poker, and it's the only time he's ever seen a full house.
Seriously, why not keep on as a forum moderator, even if you are done with gambling and analyzing it?
You are best known as "Wizard of Odds" and "Wizard of Vegas" is an extension of that.
I feel that if you leave completely, this forum will no longer capture the soul of the Wizard.

Prestidigitater I just learned a new word.
Thank you for the years of content. You have educated me and challenged me to think more than I could ever have imagined since I learned of the sites.
Good luck and enjoy retirement!

Last I heard about Bill James, he'd had a stroke about two years ago.

How about the Houdini of House Edge? The BS'er of Basic Strategy? The codpiece of coders?
